Update and TBI Resources

This image was taken of Ray today.

Today I spoke with a doctor on the trauma team.  Erlanger is urging us to discharge Ray, but we have yet to find proper care for him.  We are in need of a skilled nursing facility (SNF) that will take him, with only Medicaid coverage.  Erlanger case management says they have exhausted their search for a facility.  FL Medicaid will not cover home health care nor therapy while at a SNF.  This is putting us in a tough situation.  What are we supposed to do?  We have many questions, but not a lot of answers.

Below are a few links to help everyone understand TBI.  Ray will have a long recovery process.  This is only the beginning of his journey through healing.

Thank you for your thoughts, prayers, and support.  Without Team Ray, we would be lost.
Peace and love,

Team Ray!

  2. I didn’t have the pleasure of getting to know Ray that well but what I do know about him and how he has touched those around him is inspiring. This situation really hits home for me, and I just want Ray and the family to know that you are in my prayers, as well as, those of many others. Ray, stay strong!

    • Yes, we have contacted a few facilities as well as 800 numbers. We recently got a new contact from the VA Tampa brain injury unit. We’ll see what happens. Hopefully something will happen this week. Thank you for your kindness.

  3. My heart goes out to you and your family. I cannot imagine being in your position. Prayers for Ray, his recover and finding a facility for him to recover in.
