About Ray

Who is Ray?
Ray Brown is an awesome and accomplished young man.  He was a medical school student at UF and a veteran.  He is a great friend, brother, son, grandson, cousin, and much more.
What happened to Ray?

Ray was traveling home after visiting a friend in Nashville, TN on June 21, 2012 when he was involved in a serious car accident involving a semi-truck leaving him unconscious with a traumatic brain injury.  Fortunately, he was able to receive immediate care from a doctor, and an off duty police trooper, where they were able to stabilize him until paramedics could arrive.  Ray was then med flighted to Erlanger Health System in Chattanooga, TN.  He has since been transferred to his home state, Florida, where he continues to receive care for his injuries.
Ray is still in need of specialized care for his continued recovery.  He has much healing to do even though he has made remarkable improvements.  The path for recovery will involve lengthy physical, occupational, and speech therapy.  Please continue to follow Ray and provide him support on his recovery process.

Thank you!!

Team Ray

  1. My heart weighs heavy for Ray, his family and friends. I will help spread the word of Ray’s story and hope that as many people as possible contribute to his recovery – especially our fellow St. Augustinians.

  2. It was so heart warming for me to see this video. Ray is our very special one. He’s very strong and he’s been getting better little by little. But he also has a sweet side, and we see that coming through too. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

  3. Hello,

My name is josh Taylor and I am a friend of ray. I live in Tampa and met ray when he was attending our fellowship here. He is a good friend of mine even though we haven’t talked in a bit. I know he is a vet and I am wondering what can be done to get him in the VA? My mother is a social work supervisor at James Haley VA hospital here in Tampa and would love to be able to do what I can. Ray is 3 months older than me and I almost wept in the middle of my bank cafeteria when I saw the video and shared it with my fiancé. Ray is one of the most kindhearted people I have ever met and would love to do something. I have reached out to a friend who’s family live in TN to see if we can find someone there to help you while you are displaced from your home. Please email me as I would like to talk with you.

    Thanks,

    Josh
